Helping with little German – here is how

Together · Updated:

Many people who are new to Austria want to give something back but hold back because of the language. Yet there are tasks for which a little German is enough.

Tasks with little language

When rescuing food, for example, you collect goods, sort them or deliver them. What you mainly need is time and reliability.

Your language is in demand

Some programs specifically look for people who help newcomers in their own language – for instance with understanding letters or on the way to offices. Languages such as Arabic or Farsi are very welcome there.

Start small

Many organisations offer a trial day, and you can stop or try something else at any time.

Learn German along the way

While helping, you speak a bit of German every day and get to know people near you.

In Voluntino, every suggestion says how much German you need.
